About Us

The North East India Education Society (NEIES), a professional body of education and teachers was established in 1989 with the main objective of promoting the cause of education in the states of North East India. Today the society has grown into a matured organization with more than a decade of academic life behind it.It has brought together not only the educationist in the region but also from other parts of the country. It has provided the forum for discussions of issues on education of the region not only among the faculty members of academic departments of colleges and universities but all concerned who are interested in education including the parliamentarians and administrators. Though the members belong predominantly to the academic departments of the universities and colleges in the North East, its membership has spread to other parts of the country as well like RIE Bhubaneshwar, NIEPA New Delhi, IASE Kalyani University West Bengal.The society also has institutional life members. Out of the manifold activities of NEIES, the main activities of the society is organizing seminars, conferences to provide a forum for discussion of problems related to different aspects of education in the North Eastern Region for a meaningful dialogue, interaction and exchange of views and ideas amongst students, research scholars, teachers and practioners. Publication is also an important activity. NEIES regularly receives academic papers for publication. Journal of NEIES- The journal of North East India Education Society (NEIES) is published bi-annually. It aims at keeping the scholars and educational institutions in the region informed about the various research studies conducted in the field of education. It also aims at providing a forum for discussion on problems of education in the region. The policy of the society is to encourage an inter-disciplinary approach to understanding of the educational phenomena. The scope of the journal covers any aspect of education extending from pre-school to higher education. The Board of editors welcomes manuscripts and research reports on the theme of Education.
